BRINGING TOGETHER MUSIC SCHOLARS AND CREATORS IN CANADA
Welcome to Canada’s scholarly society devoted to advancing music studies in post-secondary.
The Canadian University Music Society is a place where musicians and scholars from post-secondary institutions across the country come together to share their knowledge, their talent, and their insights on a broad range of musics. MusCan is an open and inclusive association that welcomes researchers and creators from any discipline who do work on music, at any stage of their career, to participate in the collective project of advancing music studies in Canada.

CONVERSATION
Through our conference, newsletter, website, and other venues, MusCan creates space for conversations on music from many points of view and in many contexts.

DISSEMINATION
Our journal, Intersections, our annual new music concerts, and our conference are excellent opportunities to disseminate new knowledge and new interpretations of many musics.

MENTORSHIP
Training the next generation of scholars and musicians is at the heart of MusCan. We support students with prizes, professional development workshops, and mentorship.

LEADERSHIP
Institutional leaders meet through our Standing Committee for Institutional Members, where they can share ideas and discuss issues common to music programs across the country.
