
The Department of Music Education, Don Wright Faculty of Music, Western University, invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Coordinator of Choral Activities) appointment, effective August 1, 2020. This will be a full-time, probationary (tenure-track) appointment.
An earned doctorate is preferred with either a PhD in Music Education or a DMA in Conducting. Evidence of at least three years of successful teaching and conducting at the secondary or post-secondary levels, a strong record of performance as a choral conductor with research and/or creative activities in either Choral Conducting or Music Education are highly desirable. The successful candidate will lead one or more choral ensemble, and teach undergraduate and graduate classes in music education, choral methods, and/or conducting. Administrative expectations will include collaboratively organizing choral program ensemble activities and coordinating events, as well as engaging in auditions and recruitment activities. In addition to the Bachelor of Music with Honors in Music Education degree, the Faculty of Music offers the Master of Music in Music Education, Master of Music in Literature and Performance (with an emphasis in choral conducting), a PhD in Music (with an emphasis in music education) and a Doctoral of Musical Arts (DMA).
