The 2010 conference of the CANADIAN UNIVERSITY MUSIC SOCIETY, in collaboration with the CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF MUSIC LIBRARIES, ARCHIVES AND DOCUMENTATION CENTRES (CAML), will be held June 3−6 at the Department of Music, UNIVERSITY OF REGINA, in green and sunny Regina, Saskatchewan. You are invited to join your university-based colleagues in a relaxing atmosphere, to partake of concerts, recitals, a “great debate,” paper sessions and, of course, food.

The conference’s program committee has accepted for presentation forty-three papers, two lecture-recitals and five mini-concerts. The featured guest speaker will be composer Jérôme Blais of Dalhousie University.

Proceedings will open on the evening of Thursday, June 3, with a reception, followed by a concert performed by Regina musicians and music faculty members of the University of Regina.  Friday evening’s concert, to take place at the city’s Mackenzie Art Gallery, will feature the University of Regina New Music Ensemble in performances of twentieth- and twenty-first century music, among these, Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire and a potential winner from this year’s CUMS composition competition.

The Saturday evening banquet will be enjoyed in the gracious atmosphere of a private dining room in the historic HOTEL SASKATCHEWAN.  Originally built as a CP Rail Hotel in 1927, the HOTEL SASK features excellent cuisine and old-world elegance.

Also downtown, for your accommodation during the conference, a block of hotel rooms has been reserved at the REGINA INN.  On campus, a block of rooms is waiting for you in the University of Regina’s newest residence complex.
