Three-year appointment in Music History.  This position may be converted to a probationary position at the end of the three-year appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS

A PhD is required; applicants who are ABD and nearing completion of their dissertation will also be considered.  The University aspires to hire individuals who have demonstrated excellence in teaching research and scholarship, and have potential to participate in the development of the area of Music History as well as contribute actively in the promotion and profile development of the Department of Music and the Faculty of Fine Arts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the core music history sequence as well as upper-level topics courses.  Teaching duties in other areas of the Music Department will be assigned depending upon the candidate’s secondary expertise.  As such, post-secondary training and/or teaching experience in areas such as Ethnomusicology, Music Theory, or Musicianship Skills would be considered a distinct asset.
