QUALIFICATIONS

Our new Bachelor of Music Digital Audio Arts (DAA) program, implemented in 2008, seeks a sonic performing artist that has expertise in the areas of hardware and software interfaces, alternative control systems, hard and soft instrument design, and electroacoustic composition.  A minimum Master’s degree is required; a Ph.D is preferred. The University aspires to hire individuals who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, and have potential to participate in the development of the area as well as contribute actively in growth opportunities for the Faculty of Fine Arts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate may be expected to teach courses in Music Technology, Audio Production Techniques, Interactive Computer Music and Computer-assisted Composition, Electronics for Music Applications, Applied Research, Electroacoustic Ensemble, and related DAA courses.  The successful candidate will contribute to the development of our DAA Major.  Teaching duties in other areas of the Music Department will be assigned depending upon the candidate’s secondary expertise.  As such, post-secondary training and/or teaching experience in Acoustics, Music Cognition, Film Music, Composition coupled with Digital Media Integration, Arts Management, Educational Software Development, or Music Theory would be considered a distinct asset.
