Assistant Professor or Lecturer (one-year term), Musicology or Music Theory, School of Music

The School of Music at Brandon University invites applications for a one-year term appointment at the rank of assistant professor or lecturer in music research (disciplinary area open).  Depending on the successful candidate’s expertise and experience, the teaching responsibilities will be comprised of a subset of the following courses:  undergraduate core music theory, music history survey, introductory aural and keyboard skills, upper years course in Romantic music history, and graduate research methods and bibliography.  Other teaching may be assigned in areas relevant to the successful candidate’s interests and expertise.

The School of Music is one of Canada’s foremost institutions for musical instruction in both classical and jazz performance.  With a faculty dedicated to the individualized training of its students, the School of Music is committed to excellence in music education and performance, and has maintained a student/ faculty ratio of 8 to 1.  A completed doctorate in a relevant discipline is preferred, however, applicants with a Master’s degree will be considered.


Salary and Rank: Dependent on both the academic qualifications and the experience.

Start Date:   August 15, 2018, or upon availability of successful candidate
