Brandon University’s School of Music invites applications for a tenure-track position in Composition (subject to budgetary approval). The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in composition, and other courses depending on the successful candidate’s areas of expertise and interest as well as the needs of the School of Music. In addition, the successful candidate will have deep knowledge of and engagement with Indigenous musical practices, and a keen interest in engaging Indigenous and non-Indigenous students and community members through musical, artistic, and pedagogical endeavours. The successful candidate will provide leadership in developing the Composition area and participate in a full range of academic activity: teaching, research/creative output, and service to the university and wider communities.
Rank and Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications: Brandon University is seeking an emerging or established composer experienced in Indigenous ways of knowing, teaching and learning. Applicants with a doctoral degree or its equivalent in composition are preferred (ABD candidates will also be considered). Composers with backgrounds in Indigenous cultural and musical practice coming from a background alternative to the doctoral degree are encouraged to apply.
