Three Assistant Professor Positions Specializing in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music
(Theory / Composition, Performance, History, Music Technology)
MacEwan University is seeking highly qualified musicians specializing in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music to fill three new full-time positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidates will teach courses in one or more of the following subject areas: Theory/Composition, Performance, History and/or Music Technology.
The Music program is situated within the faculty of the Centre for the Arts and Communications of MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta and is part of city’s vibrant arts community. The Bachelor of Music degree builds on MacEwan’s reputation as one of the finest music schools in Canada, and is offered concurrently with MacEwan’s acclaimed two-year Music Diploma program.
Applicants must have a strong interest in teaching as a career priority. Research is also essential and will form part of the negotiated workload for each of the successful candidates. The ability to work effectively in a collegial environment is also considered very important. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the degree program, but diploma courses may also be included.
The preferred candidate must have teaching experience at the post-secondary level, have demonstrated professional practice in their area of expertise and posses a graduate degree in music (doctorate preferred).
These positions will include a full benefit package and will commence around July 1st, 2013 based on program need and the successful candidates’ availability.

This position is included under the Faculty Association Collective Agreement.
