MacEwan University’s Music Department is seeking a high-profile musician and educator specializing in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music to fill a new full-time continuing position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2017. The successful candidate will have a multiple skill-set that draws primarily from the areas of performance and composition. Experience in digital audio production and urban music, as well as a vision towards developing new approaches to undergraduate music education, will be seen as assets.

The Department of Music is situated within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications of MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta. Beginning in September 2017, the Department will be housed at the new, state-of-the-art Centre for the Arts and Culture as part of MacEwan University’s main campus in downtown Edmonton. MacEwan Music has been part of city’s vibrant arts community since the early 1970s, and its Bachelor of Music degree builds on its reputation as one of the finest post-secondary music programs in Canada.

The preferred candidate will hold a minimum of a Master’s degree (doctorate preferred), must have teaching experience at the post-secondary level and a national and/or international profile in their area(s) of expertise.

In addition, applicants will submit a teaching dossier that includes a teaching philosophy, a record of courses taught, and course evaluations.
