School of Music
Acadia School of Music seeks a Staff Accompanist. The position duties, assigned by the Director, include:
- collaborate with School of Music students
- accompany class-time activities and rehearsals during the day
- accompany concerts, rehearsals, and performances during the evening
- accompany ensembles and course work (as needed)
- work collaboratively with all studio teachers and professors to support students’ growth
This is an 8-month sessional position which runs from September to April each academic year.
The School of Music offers a comprehensive music curriculum where students develop expertise in a chosen area of specialization while being encouraged to broaden their horizons within our many diverse course offerings. We are seeking candidates who have a breadth of accompanying/collaborative piano experiences (including multiple genres, situations, and levels) to align with the School of Music’s mission. Applicants must possess a graduate degree in accompanying/collaborative piano. Evidence of successful performance as accompanist and a strong sight-reading ability are required. Experience dealing with young adults from culturally diverse backgrounds preferred; excellent communication and organizational skills also necessary. Candidates must be willing to work a flexible 35 hour per week schedule which includes nights and weekends.
Acadia offers a comprehensive benefit package in addition to a starting salary based on the full-time gross per annum rate of $36,232 plus 6% vacation pay, to be prorated for the sessional term.
