The Faculty of Arts at the University of Bonn, Germany, invites applications for a W 2 Professorship in Musicology/Sound Studies to be filled as of 1st October 2018. 


A vital part of the professorship will be teaching and researching within the field of sound studies with a fundamental approach towards humanistic and cultural sciences as well as musicological research. The future holder of the position should engage in the development of relevant research approaches and in interdisciplinary cooperation with the Institute of Linguistics, Media Studies and Musicology as well as with members of other relevant departments. Applicants preferably should have already gained experience in the field of electronic music media and should have dealt with aspects of the globalization of music. Furthermore, publications or proven teaching experience in Pop Music and/or Jazz are also preferable. We also expect applicants to have profound knowledge in general music history and musical analysis. The future professor should show great willingness to participate in the research activities and in the development of new teaching concepts of the faculty and to contribute to the committees of academic self-administration. 

Formal requirements are regulated by § 36 Hochschulgesetz (HG NRW).
