The Dan School of Drama and Music, Queen’s University invites applications from suitably-qualified applicants to teach in each of the following areas during the 2018-19 academic year: Clarinet, Flute, Oboe.  These positions have opened due to recent retirements.

The Dan School offers a Bachelor of Music degree as part of a full range of undergraduate education in music, drama and music theatre.  Recently, we have launched our first graduate programs, beginning with a focus on Arts Leadership, and these are thriving.  In addition to the usual solo and ensemble performance opportunities for our music students, we encourage collaboration among our students in ways that extend the range of their skills and help to develop their imaginations and entrepreneurial confidence.  The performance home of the Dan School is the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, a beautiful first-class facility on the shore of Lake Ontario, which contains a magnificent Concert Hall and a Rehearsal/Recital Hall as well as range of studios, practice rooms and classrooms.

Candidates should have extensive experience teaching in their field, including solo, chamber and orchestra repertoire at the university level. The candidate will also have experience performing professionally and be prepared to demonstrate high level musicianship. Opportunities for professional performance may arise occasionally from within the Dan School.  The successful candidate will exhibit strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions and a commitment to pedagogical excellence. A D.M.A. is preferred.

Duties include undergraduate studio instruction, with chamber music coaching also a possibility. Performance opportunities may arise throughout the year.

Fall classes begin on September 6, 2018 and end on November 30, 2018, with exams ending December 21, 2018. Winter classes begin on January 7, 2019 and end on April 5, 2019, with exams ending April 28, 2019.
